Electronic Design

Ionocom designs electronic products for clients.

We provide a comprehensive set of design services backed up by proven procedures, modern tools and test equipment. We follow a consistent design process that ensures clear communications with our clients, good integration between the different aspects of the project, fast time-to-market, and a high quality result in the form of an engineering drawing set for the designed product.

We offer experience and expertise ranging from wireless and analog circuit design through digital logic to embedded processors.

Wireless and Analog

Our radio experience extends from shortwave to cellular, with particular emphasis on short-range wireless communications. The wireless design page illustrates the range of technologies and applications that we can cover.

In addition to wireless we also focus on analog design areas such as audio, battery and power management, sensors and instrumentation. Low-power design is a specialty. If your product needs to operate for years from a coin cell, we have the know-how to design a solution.

Digital

We have solid digital logic design experience from tiny, low-power, discrete gate designs through to complex programmable-logic devices from suppliers such as Altera and Xilinx.

MCUs

We have experience with 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers ranging from the industry standard 8-bit 8051 to the 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4, from supplies such as Microchip, Texas Instruments, Freescale, NXP and Atmel.

We have worked with porting prototypes from the Arduino platform and have designed products based on the Espressif ESP32.

We also have experience with digital signal processors and microprocessors from suppliers such as Texas Instruments, Freescale and Renesas.

Microchip Authorized Design Partner

Ionocom is a Microchip Authorised Design Partner, giving us preferential access to Microchip training, technical support, and development tools.

Texas Instruments MSP430 Developer Network

Ionocom is a member of the Texas Instruments MSP430 Developer Network, giving us direct access to support from Texas Instruments and advance information on product roadmaps.

Process

We have experience designing high-volume, low-cost consumer products. Production quantities have exceeded one hundred thousand units for several products we have designed. Conversely, many of the projects we tackle are lower-volume, high-value products for professional and industrial applications.

We can design to meet your cost targets and manufacturing process constraints. We are familiar with DFM (design for manufacture) and DFT (design for test) processes. We can design to meet regulatory requirements and have experience dealing with UL, CSA, FCC, CE and US DOD standards.
